Background

Prof. Dr. Johann Kranz is a Professor of Digital Services and Sustainability at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU), Munich’s School of Management. Before, he was Assistant Professor at the University of Goettingen and Visiting Researchers at Columbia Business School, Copenhagen Business School, and Syracuse University.

In his practice-oriented work he focuses on Digitalization, Decarbonization, and Decentralization. Particularly, he investigates how to leverage the potential of digital technologies to create meaningful innovation, more efficient ways of organizing, and competitive advantage and at the same time social and environmental value. Topics include Digital Transformation, Digital Innovation Management, Data Analytics and Governance, Sustainability Reporting and Transformation, Corporate Digital Responsibility, and Circular Economy. His work has been published in major scientific journals, received numerous awards and was featured by BrandEins, Handelsblatt, ARD, and Wirtschaftswoche.

He is also head of the Internet Business Cluster—a Munich-based non-profit platform bringing together industry, science, and digital talents—and a member of the MÜNCHNER KREIS research committee, LMU’s Entrepreneurship Center, and a keynote speaker at Disruptive Minds.
