Robert Bruckmeier

General Manager (Computing and AI Network), BMW Group

Robert has been with BMW for over 20 years and heads the Computing & AI Network department, focusing on AI strategy and AI pilot applications for intelligent vehicle systems.


He has a broad range of experience in electronics and software development, including navigation systems, human-machine interfaces including speech processing, central vehicle systems, automated driving, software development, and AI. Robert spent 4.5 years in China and succeeded in working on BMW becoming the first foreign vehicle manufacturer to obtain a license for autonomous driving on public roads.
 

Before BMW, he spent 5 years at McKinsey & Company, mainly working on technology projects. Robert has a background in computer science, holding a Ph.D. in laser and quantum physics, based on a M.S. at Stanford University.
